Next month, thousands of speech-language pathologists will gather at this year’s American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Annual Convention in Los Angeles, California.

An Aphasia Breakfast will take place on Thursday morning of the ASHA Convention providing an opportunity for those in the trenches of aphasia care and research to join each other in one space, at one time. AphasiaAccess has volunteered to coordinate this year's gathering.

This year's breakfast will focus on maximizing the opportunity for attendees to talk through solutions to common challenges. Small group roundtable conversations will be set up, with facilitators ready to lead conversations.

Past topics have included:

● Beyond conversation: Different ideas for thematic groups (e.g., art, music, spirituality, games, journaling, etc)

● Keeping the conversation going: Different methods for conversation groups

● Outcome measures

● Training undergraduate and graduate students in LPAA

● Targeting specific linguistic goals in a conversation group

● Developing short term and long term goals within an LPAA model

● Taking Up a Winning Cause: Medicare's impact on university and community-based group aphasia programs

The cost of the breakfast is $15* ($20 at the door). If you have any questions, please email us at info@AphasiaAccess.org.

 * Your registration fee covers less than 50% of the actual cost. The balance is covered by AphasiaAccess and breakfast sponsors. Help us keep these costs low by becoming a sponsor. To learn more, email Todd Von Deak.
