Call for Presentations for the 2025 Leadership Summit

The portal for presentation submissions is now closed. You can expect to hear about your submission by January 10.

Our sixth Aphasia Access Leadership Summit will take place in Pittsburgh, PA, April 3 – 5, 2025, gathering professionals in the trenches helping people with aphasia navigate life. Attendees are people charged with making communicatively-accessible environments, running hospital-, community- and university-based programs for people with aphasia, creating innovative products, teaching the next generation, and/or working on research.

The theme of this year’s summit is “Transforming Care Together: Building Bridges for People-Centered Solutions”. We look forward to hearing how the Aphasia Access community has provided innovative care using the Life Participation Approach to Aphasia (LPAA) in their varied settings and how we can transform care together to build bridges for person-centered solutions. We encourage submissions regarding strategies: (1) diversity, equity, and inclusion in LPAA groups, programming, and research (2) to address mental health and well-being in adults with communication challenges and their care partners; (3) to engage adults with communication challenges, care partners, and clinicians in the research process; (4) to conduct interdisciplinary work and bridge fields speech-language pathology with other disciplines; (5) to bridge the gaps that we face in integrating LPAA approaches in research, clinical, center, and academic settings.

There are four options for presentation format: Posters, Brag & Steal Presentations, a traditional Round Table discussion format, and, new this year, a Symposia. These sharing formats will offer inspiration, peer learning, in-depth exploration, and networking combined with keynote speakers and panelists. You will be asked to identify your preferred presentation format when you submit. We may contact you to request a change to the proposed format as the program is developed.

The deadline for proposal submission is November 20, 2024 (11:59 PM EST). Proposals will be evaluated based on originality, coherence with the Aphasia Access mission, clarity, and (if applicable) research quality. First authors will be informed of their selection no later than January 1, 2025.

*New this Year!* Bridging Symposia: Cultivating Connections and Conversations
Symposia offer unique opportunities to present compelling and timely topics with an integrated perspective in a panel format. Symposia can be used to present conclusive evidence of a series of studies, present different perspectives on a topic, or to provoke discussion on areas where more work is required.
