Our Mission
Aphasia Access empowers professionals and advocates across all settings to deliver person-centered services for people living with aphasia.
Who We Are
Aphasia Access is your community of friendship and support. We empower busy healthcare professionals faced with the difficult task of giving or getting reliable information from someone struggling to communicate. We help speech-language pathologists deliver reimbursable, person-centered aphasia treatment. We assist leaders hosting aphasia group programs. We support university professors teaching the next generation, and students pursuing career paths to serve people with communication disorders including aphasia. We are committed to anyone on the front lines of aphasia care as well as to breaking down the communication access barriers that are all too prevalent in our health care delivery systems.
Strategic Priorities
Sustainability and Funding
- Increase revenue through membership recruitment and retention aiming for 15% growth over the next two years through the development of a membership value proposition.
- Diversify revenue sources through donor and sponsor engagement and grant funding opportunities.
- Transform organizational governance and operations to ensure sustainability by investing in leadership training and education.
Awareness, Education, and Implementation
- Create an education oversight body to optimize educational offerings and improve awareness.
- Address barriers in knowledge dissemination and implementation of LPAA across practice settings.
Collaboration and Connection
- Create communities of practice to enhance member collaboration opportunities.
- Establish a multidisciplinary advisory council comprising of healthcare professionals, legal experts, advocacy specialists, and other important stakeholders to guide the advancement of LPAA.
- Connect with other professional and advocacy organizations to advance our mission and vision.
